Boko Haram insurgency: Nigeria appoints new head of multinational force

Nigeria has named a general to lead the new multinational task force given the mandate to combat Boko Haram extremists, reports TVC News.

Major General Iliya Abbah previously headed military operations in the oil-rich Niger Delta.

The new force replaces the regional offensive that has scored a number of victories against the jihadists since February.
